I’ll be at the South Side Zine Fest which returns this summer, selling zines as Sugar Hijinx perzine distro but also moderating a panel! More info below!
This year, Zine Club Chicago is bringing a carnival vibe to the annual celebration of zine community on the South Side of Chicago. There will be zine-themed carnival activities, along with community-focused tabling by local zine distros and artists, stations for zine- and button-making, and more.
I’ll be moderating the panel “More Than a Youth Culture: Building a Sustainable Life in DIY” and it’s at Tangible Books (though the tabling exhibition is a few doors down at the Richard J. Daley Branch of the Chicago Public Library).
Here’s the description of the panel:
Zine-making and distribution is immensely rewarding but balancing it with the responsibilities we encounter in our lives presents challenges in staying inspired over the long haul. Liz Mason talks with publishers Kurt (Room Tone zine), Andrea Pearson (No Pants Revolution, Aquatic Panda Distro) and Jackie Wolk (Language Is An Exchange) about building a sustainable experience in DIY publishing and distribution.
